Keys In Trunk and Safety Demonstration

Yesterday the boyz and I were heading up north for our friends open house. We stopped by Walmart to get snacks. I locked my keys in the trunk when they fell of my finger when I put my stuff in the trunk!
The locksmith took about an hour to get to our car and another 20 minutes or so to open the trunk. $65 later we were ready to go.

While we were waiting for the locksmith a paramedic helicopter set down in the parking lot. Of course we all climbed on to the roof of the car to get a better view. (ha ha) While we were up there we noticed a SWAT vehicle and smoke coming from a trailer. The kids walked over to find out what was going on.

There were no injuries, fire or drug bust. The state police, fire department and paramedics were having a "thing".

All vehicles were open for inspection. The people had their gear sitting out and were talking with everyone and answering questions.

The SWAT vehicle had lots of guns and cammo stuff.

The police cars had crowd control gear out.

Police dogs were doing demonstrations by attacking the big padded arm.

One fire truck had it's ladder fully extended.

The other fire truck was full of water and the fireman helped the children use the hose.

The smoke house is a small trailer-like house that is full of smoke so people can get a feel for what it is like to be in a smoke filled house. The kids went through it several times.

The paramedic helicopter was really neat!

When we finished checking out all the cool stuff we headed back to the car. What did we find? The car had a flat tire! The same tire I just replaced. Sheesh! I am not comfortable driving 3 hours on a tire that is obviously loosing air. We had to go back home.

The kids had a blast and it sort of made up for (just a little) the fact that we were not able to go up north.
